30+ years of experience with commercial design and construction consulting and Owner's representation. Darren started his career managing the design of large retail centers, big box retail, office buildings, IT switch stations, and family medical centers. His goal was to start his own firm at 35, therefore started FORM SPACE TEXTURE in 1998 to primarily design and manage the construction of CareNOW medical clinics in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. After closing FORM SPACE TEXTURE due to 9/11, Darren moved into the hospital sector to design psychiatric and women/children hospitals. Following that experience, Darren then managed the remodel programs for Home Depot, Staples, Office Depot, and TGI Fridays across the US. After remodeling an existing racquetball court building into the DFW Airport Wellness and Fitness Center, this led to an opportunity to manage $100M Capital programs for DFW International Airport as a Airport Board Employee. Darren led a team of architects and engineers for the design and construction of airport facilities, terminal and FBO terminal facilities, hospitality clubs, terminal concessions, terminal office remodels, fire stations, DPS headquarters, fire training centers, and the DFW Airport Headquarters. After 10 years of service to DFW Airport, Darren was offered the opportunity to managed the design and construction of the $100M Mary Kay, Inc. Manufacturing and R&D Center in Lewisville, Texas. As a response to a COVID-19 lay-off, Darren decided to revive FORM SPACE TEXTURE to leverage his vast experience to provide design and construction management services to Owners and Developers. Additionally, Darren is moving into the custom home sector where individuals and developers may need experienced support for the success of their building project.
Lastly, as a registered Texas architect and NCARB certified, reciprocal licensing in other states is achievable for most project locations in the US.
